Amazing Transformation that Retains Character

Retaining the original character of this 1960s Avenues house was key. A family home of 28 years needed some modernizing and creation of open space for a lifestyle that now includes grandchildren. The existing facade has remained untouched, but the appearance of the home from the driveway has been transformed by a large upper-level deck with a solid timber balustrade that matches the house cladding. Letting in light from all angles has created a real sense of space, and a high-pitched ceiling provides the canopy for a 3-metre island bench included in the beautifully refitted kitchen. This stunning renovation has achieved the balance between adding contemporary design and keeping the dwelling within its era.
